Fact is, in the USA, if you have nothing, and use someone elses saw to cut your arm off, call 9-1-1 and an ambulance will come get you, sew it up and bill you. If you dont pay, you will not go to debtors prison. We have people running for president calling for free college and medical. The same people are calling for open borders and no deportations. We already have an enormous amount of free. The word free is a horrible word to a libertarian. It should make a working person guard their pocketbook. It is a favorite word of politicians.
Here is the positivity you seek;
Work.
Have pride in your work.
Live within your means.
Save. Save till it hurts. Save for the future.
Learn the difference between what you want, and what you need.
Do not depend on others or the government to look out for you.
Appreciate the things you have that others worked for, like living in a country where there is no war, and there are jobs for those that want them.

You wrongly discount pessimism. It protects one in many ways.
