First I challenged his implication that AutoMatic weapons are available in the US.
Private ownership of machine guns made after 1986 is banned by federal law. All pre-1986 automatic weapons must be registered with the ATF and require extensive background checks before private citizens may own them.

But then Mr. Bretherton is a 'college lecturer"...so how could he possibly know about that...or even know how to find out that Fact>



Second, I disputed his assertion that European society is superior to that in the US. The Mayor of London having to ban knives because restrictive gun laws in England are not enough to stop people from killing each other in the streets of a major European City.

And I pointed to the efforts at gun control here : you don't need a gun call 911.

Mr Bretherton's willingness to lecture using his Wrong Facts and your attack on me for something I never wrote is emblematic of the very thing that Mr. Bretherton cites as what is wrong with the US ---"division, resentment,..."
