That's not "torque steer". It's a matter of definition. Torque steer IS a condition when you hit the gas and your gar pulls [to the same side, consistently] on a flat surface, with good tires, *with the wheels pointed straight ahead*; the reason being drivetrain engineering flaws. Some FWD cars have it more pronounced; Volvo is not too bad in this respect.
But I agree that 236hp is too much for a de-tuned suspention and touring tires Volvos get outfitted with in a standard form in the US.
