I can't believe I missed replying to this thread before...

BUY THE T5(M)!!! I did and have NOT looked back since. I LOVE this car. I mean LOVE! If my wife makes a comment about something she dislikes about it (like the rear seatbelts locking on her), I get crazy! The only thing I'm finding myself wishing for is AWD (between the torque steer and the fact that we just got over 12" of snow).

My clutch is silky smooth!!! I have never hit the hazards while shifting to 3rd (I turned them on all the time reaching for the stereo or ash tray (where I keep my change;-)), but I got used to it and don't do that any more.

Torque steer... LOTS OF IT ON THIS CAR@!!!!! That's one of the reason's I'd like an AWD next. Wheel spin and hop, torque steer, white nuckle accelerating, it's all part of having a 236 hp car, especially with a manual.

I have the optional 50 series tires, but without the sport suspension (unfortunately). I just replaced the tires with Pirelli P7000 SuperSports which I'm running all year round. It's rare that we get this much snow. They're doing fine in it (although I was driving my wife's Benz with 4 snows and RWD, drove like a tank!!!) and the ride is actually much better than with the stock Pilot summer tires.

I LOVE THIS CAR!!! I only wish you as much enjoyment out of yours. I can guarantee that you will NEVER find a Taurus owner who LOVES their car. At best, they may like it during the 3 year lease. Look around, ever see an old taurus? They're all CRAP! Now look at old volvos. No comparison.

Lastly, I was considering a Passat Variant new versus this car. Great car. I'd still consider it, but am convinced that my car looks 100 times better than a Passat does. I LOVE the stock rims, the boxy look, and the fact that cops don't seem to care when I go by "quickly."

BUY THE T5(M)! I LOVE mine (can you tell?).
