Re: More New Buyer Questions - T5 vs. GLT V70-XC70 1998

Dave,

As a T5M owner I would have to say go for the T5M.

I have driven both the T5 and the GLT. The GLT is the loner car that I get when I drop my car off for srevice.

I have the sports suspention and 50 series tires on my T5, so the ride is a little stiffer than the GLT with base suspention and 55 series tires. It is not overly harsh (as compared to a Saleen Mustang ;-)) but is quite firm.

The GLT is a good everyday driver if you can stand the auto tranny(sounds like you can't). The manula on the T5 is smooth but the throw seems long(if I could just stop turning on the hazards). The T5 has loads of power but it takes higher revs to bring it on. The turbo lag on the T5 man seems less than the GLT.

I noticed no "torque steer" with either the T5 or the GLT, but the car does have a tendency to follow ruts when accelerating or braking.

I have had a few minor problems with my T5(loose drivers seat, loose front swaybar & check engine light-loose vacuum line), but a good service dept. makes all the difference.
