But I don't even have a fan clutch system, it's just a direct stupid noisy fan. I can feel it sucking the engine back down from speed. It really isn't efficient enough at idle speeds, and it's too agressive for over 5krpm. Yet another thing I'd like to actually compare on the dyno, but money won't allow the runs to just test out a fan and no fan... Plus, with the EC fan on there I can maintain temperature a little better and lower when on the dyno. And then on the highway trips where I'm sitting at 4k+rpm I'll get that much more miniscule mileage. I can say that I truly believe there would be noticeably more power above 5krpm without the direct drive fan on there. If not, eh, whatever. I don't like the sound. =D
I can't imagine how some velocity stacks wouldn't help me though... Just by taking off the top of the airbox it feels like I have more power. More room straight ahead for the carbs to suck air easier. But then again, without the airbox cover, the lower rpm power is worse... I think... Well, when the car was cold and I started it up without the cover on it, it was a little harder to drive until it warmed up. Argh, if only I had unlimited funds and my own dyno to play on... John? You wanted to see some engines tested out? You wanted to cover dyno charges? Hehe, that's only for actually modified engines though isn't it... I guess you can't really call my setup a modified engine. Just "bolt-ons".
