You do not mention any problems with how the car runs. What kind of mileage do you get?
Did the oil or coolant look nasty?
How did the plugs look?
If all of the above have reasonable answers, I'd drive the car for a thousand miles and try again. Read up on compression checking a bit to refresh your memory.
Five years ago I purchased a high mileage, good looking turbo model in a hurry because my daughter's car was totaled when hit by by a drunk driver. (The '89 Volvo she was driving probably saved her life!) When I had it checked out, a dealer's compression test showed one low cylinder, but it ran well and looked sharp. Now 75,000 miles later, the car shows three low cylinders. That's unfortunate, but the car is still fun to drive, performs well, and passes emission inspection. It has never had an engine related problem.
I've got better things to worry about.
P. S. - the car has 223,000 miles on it.
