No offence, but everything you described applies to certain eras of Volvo 240's. Had you mentioned the transmission problems or oil sludging, etc...I would have been with you. Volvo's are some of the least electrically reliable cars on the planet, that are not Italian, depending on the year.

Volvo LH 2.4 has Crank position sensor and power stage issues (and RSR depending on the model) and fuel pump relay issues and in tank pump issues and taillight circuit board issues and fuse issues...
