Saab for Volvo guy

Hi all,
I am looking at a new used car, a Saab 9-5 I believe. Budget wise 2000- 2004 model year. I have had 240's, 740's, 940's and 960's for the last 15 years and it is time for something a little more modern. My current DD is an 89 745T that is a nice california car. I had a couple of Saab 9000's previously and liked them. So from a Volvo perspective of reliability, fix it myself when I can, and value, does anyone have any Saab experience?
Thanks,
Palmer
Twin Lake, MI
