for all I know it does suffer from the combo....it was all I had at the time and that was 20 years ago and it still works. Engine has done hard service 8 months a year since, can go 100+ mph, seems to breath OK. If I ever get into valve problems I'll probably change heads, the B20 exhaust header really helped.
First I have heard of thin walls on the B18....I thought that was a problem with boring B20 out to 21.
Off the top of my head, I'm pretty sure the B20 block was essentially a bored out B18 block at least for the first few years of production. With luck more knowledgeable folk will chime in.
