Many thanks Eric for the specs and the advice.
What you said about the cylinder tapering...that helped me recall many years ago when a mechanic mentioned something about the cylinders being conical-shaped for a successful rebuild. I didn't understand what he meant back then.
So...does that mean if I do opt for boring, I should expect that a machinist will know to taper the cylinders?
And will I need to get a new set of pistons, lets say .10 or .20 over, to bring along with the block for the machinist to use for measurements?
And how would bore oversizing affect the head gasket? Would it cause the circular openings to over lap the cylinders?
I have more questions, but I'll hold them until I get back to doing more work on the engine!
Thanks,
-DS
