Why B18? Are you fanatical about it all being all original?
What is your budget?
*Took piston #4 out. the top ring was broken into half (compression was tested 135). I measured the cylinder all around and up/down. The off-roundness seem not to be so bad, ranging from .003 to .005.
That's done at least 150000 miles to get that much wear in my experience. You are in need of a full rebuid.
QUESTION: What is the maximum clearance tolerance between the piston and wall if I am to just do cylinder honing and snapping in new rings around the piston? The piston grooves looked pretty good.
It's the TOP piston ring groove side clearence that needs to be measured, measuring the bore for your purpose is pointless. Download some instructions from a piston ring manufacturer & read it.
