Strut question, wisdom needed V70-XC70 1998

Used back in the old days, a left handed "monkey" wrench referes to an adjustable wrench. Definitly a derrogatory remark towards people who had limited tools, because the adjustment was not very good and people wound up with rounded bolts/nuts.

My rationale for replacing the struts, $95ea from FCP, is that I will only have to do this once. Same labor as it would be if I kept the old struts.
