Strut question, wisdom needed V70-XC70 1998

According to the manual, the strut nut, the funny looking thing with 4 wings, gets tightened to 51 lbs. Is there a secret to torquing that dumb thing?
Did you use all new nuts/bolts? Any loc tite anywhere?
As you can tell, I am slowly getting my nerves up...
