1994 Silver Volvo 850, 4-door, automatic, 155,746 miles. One owner: my mom. Her pride and joy. Before you get too excited, parts of it are in rough shape. It’s always been kept in a garage, but as mom got older and a bit more dottering she hit another car and lost her license. The insurance called it totaled, even though it drives perfectly. The only real indication that I can see that things aren’t all right is the driver’s side windshield wiper won’t clear off that last portion of the windshield. So it’s a bit wonky there. I love this car and drove it occasionally but no one in town will work on it anymore, No one. Because it’s “too old”. I have to wonder if mechanics have any pride left or it’s all been hijacked by the computer age. But that’s just in this town (Moscow, Idaho) and I know there’s someone out there that can restore her or use for parts. I need to make room in the garage for my son’s car and so am forced to sell or gift it, even though it kinda breaks my heart.
The good: The engine is a beauty and purrs. Comes with two sets of tires (but only one set of rims), summer and winter studded. Interior in descent shape. Always kept in garage, no rust. The bad: There are a few minor dings and dents. The front left signal light is broken and there is denting around it. I have replacement part but have not installed. The glove compartment door stopped working and was locked and the locksmith finally had to break the latch mechanism to get it open. It currently is held in place with velcro. As mentioned, the driver’s side windshield wiper tends to not clear the last portion of the windshield. New wipers help but don’t really fix the issue, so there is some damage to the frame somewhere that made the windshield warp. Not apparent to the untrained eye and mine is untrained. Rear antennae is stuck in up position. I have plenty of pictures to show instead of just tell and am glad to send. I'm running into issues with the brickboard gallery. I will answer any questions that I can but I am not a mechanic. I don’t know how much this is worth but have it listed at $1200. If you’d like to make an offer, please do. |
