Turn the engine so #1 cyl is TDC on the compression stroke (both valves closed). There a scribe mark on the body of the distributor on the surface the cap seats on -- turn the dizzy so that mark centers under the rotor.

If you can't do that, reseat the drive gear so you can.

If you can do that and it still won't run, get the right distributor cap for a 003. One size does not fit all -- they're keyed several different ways.
