If it not too late, here is how the scam works.

Joe in Brazil wants to buy your car for $2300. But hold on, he has a friend, Biff, that has a certified check for $7,000. They ask you to cash the certified check, giving the balane to Biff. Then you keep the $2,300.

The problem is that the certified check is bad and takes 2 weeks to come back as bad. By then car & $ and new owners are long gone.
