Yes, the channel iron would negate the deforming I got with my pressure-treated 2x4.
But I don't lkike the idea off needing to wrench a not on the threaded rod. I needed to make a lot of lifting adjustments, so, the travel jack supplied with the car was enormously helpful at this. Very easy to raise or lower as frequently as I wanted. and you don't try to "get by" withougt adjusting things if you're inclined (as I would be) to once again, turn a wrenck some more.
plus, I guess you get a lot more "lift" distance using the jack with much less effort.
BTW, remember to replace your oil cap!
