problems with 122 out of storage 120-130

Jim;

If those things which don't work now worked fine when the car was parked, it should be duck soup to reawaken the car...

1. Brake Light Switch has gone the way of its' bretheren from non-use...sure, you should check the state of the electrical connections to it (and clean if necessary), but if connecting across the switch with IGN ON lights brake lights, upgrading is the smart solution. See: http://www.intelab.com/swem/swemkits.htm

2. Refering to 122 Wiring Diagram such as:
http://www.intelab.com/swem/122S%20Wiring%20Diagram.jpg
...use a test light or voltmeter to check for headlight power at yellow (input) of hi/lo beam footswitch. Having power there when Lightswitch is in headlight on position is a good start...check at the output terminals...then move to engine compartment and check at the six terminal connector...there is a good possibility this connector is corroded...work your way toward the lights in this way.

3. Pour fresh fuel into the carbs (and maybe even bowls) for initial starting...if it ran fine when you parked it, why would you think by playing with the ignition and carb jets you would improve anything?? Fuel ages, and turns to a liquid with less octane than horse urine. Your wife is right! Old fuel stinks like hell when coming from the exhaust after the engine was not able to start it! Bring your ign sys under control, static time, return your carb adjustments to where they were, and then try starting on fresh fuel!

4. Tell the neighbor to mind his own business, have a loud party, don't invite him, and take him off your Christmas card list.

Good Luck!
