Made In Mexico 700

I bought some stuff from them and they seem to be alright. Slow plugs and the pump timing tool along with some other goodies. The rings I got from Drivewire along with a T belt and pump belt. I had the mexican rings tested for hardness and composition and from what I got back so far they seem to be pretty good. Hardness was 29C rockwell and the finish was within the fine range of 174u so they would seat with a light crosshatch. The temper of the rings was rather poor meaning they would loose tension after a short period of time however they can be heat treated to retain a better temper. (like some drivers)

I guess if you are debating a rebuild of your N/A diesel I would say go for the mexican rings, you dont have a turbocharger to deal with. Is your motor an overbore or is it standard? Reason I ask is because you could go with the next larger O/S rings without boring or new pistons and using a ring gap file to fit the new rings by bringing the endgap back to spec yet taking advantage of the additional "spring" of the slightly larger rings. I used to do that when I was a young punk working at a diesel overhaul outfit while struggling through school. Those were the Cummins H series and the Onan L series diesels and I know of 3 that are still going with over 5k hours on the clock in generator service.
