$20 - Volvo 240 3 spare tires (donuts) on spare rim, each $20 - 1 940 spare tire (donut) on spare rim, and $20 - 1 unmounted tire (185/70R14). All garage-kept. All stored in my garage. No tire rot on any tire. The 3 240 spares are made in Sweden, and NOT one of those infamous spares that came on the late model 240s as I had one in my 92 240. I never used it, and when I looked at it to put air in it, the belts were exposed by the tire splitting. Those late model spare tires were made somewhere else other than Sweden, I think Spain. Two 240 spares need a valve stem, and on the third 240 spare, it holds air but when you push the stem on the side, it does leak at the stem. That's why I'm including a new stem, but you will need to have it installed. One of the spares looks worn on one side. It appears that the owner used it as a permanent tire while the car was out of alignment because it's worn on one side. Since this is a temporary tire, it shouldn't be a problem. The dismounted full-size tire is year model 2002 but doesn't have any tire rot. I have a tire almost this old on my Camry. I keep these full-size spares when one of the tires goes bad, can't be repaired. So, instead of buying a new tire with different tread depth than what's on my car already, I just reach for one of these tires stored in my garage and install it. The 940 spare has some dimples on each side of the tire at the same location. I don't think that would be a problem as the tire looks rarely used by how much tread it has on it. Each tire includes a new, separate valve stem, needs to be installed. Note: The rear-wheel drive Volvos can house a full-size tire. But, if you want to have something in the garage or you prefer something smaller that is easier to handle and pull out of the tire well, then one of these spares could be useful. |
