How to thoroughly clean undercarriage?

I am in the process of buying an air compressor. One attchment they sell for this thing is a pressure washer wand - one end gets compressed air and the other goes to the liquid of your choice. If I used really hot water and a solvent, I wonder how close I can get to a "steam clean" clean?
