A fact, an opinion, and a request 900 1993

I am "cool" Kick, no issues.
Around here, Volvos are not the car to "hot rod" although I suppose they could be. (NC is NASCAR country.) We have the classic and new V8 Camaros, mustangs, and the readily available classics like the Nova SS that someone pumps 5k into before they realize they are to old or can't afford it anymore. I have seen a few wacky souped up "The Fast and the Furious" Hondas and Toyotas. I think it's a joke.

The younger drivers have the lack of experience and that combined with typical over confidence is the worst mix. I agree, the T adds an element and I think it's minor in this case. My son once said that his age group should be better at driving because of quicker hand eye coordination. I said it's not like a video game and I asked him to think about the importance of driving experience and why the 18yo neighbor died in the accident and why the 17yo on the other side got into an accident (her fault), and why the 18yo across the street ended up in the ditch during an ice storm and why insurance rates are sky high for the first three years of driving. He understood.
We had an ice build up on the roads today and my son was able to "experience" some out of control sliding and ABS stopping. Too bad it's not available in drivers ed.

Both my wife and son saw your post and my reply and it just reinforces my expectations of his responsibility behind the wheel, and for that, Kick, I thank you.
