Auto trans swap...is this possible? 200 1980

Aside from the fact that the transmission from the diesel will be the "dreaded" ZF (so one should inspect it carefully before installing).. I thought that the turbo diesel to na diesel was like the ohc to ohv red blocks. The former are slanted, the latter are not.. meaning you'd have to use a bit of trickery to get everything to work.

... altho I've heard a lot of praise of the D24T + ZF4HP22 comobo.

That said, a manual transmision would be an easier swap, as that would be a direct swap... the 200 series diesel being offered with the M46 and all.
