I wouldn't. The mating surface on the block is different between the diesel and the inline-4, so bolting it up to the block would give serious difficulty, not to mention the fact that I wouldn't be surprised at all if the stall rpm of the torque convertor is different between the gasoline and diesel versions. If the overall length of the tranny is different you'd also need to modify the driveshaft.
You're making life a lot easier for yourself if you start by grabbing one from another inline-4 engine instead.
