I havent read the other posts so here goes:
1.) You probably have a broken thermostat which is not allowing the engine to get up to proper operating temperature, thus your heat is not very hot. A simple DIY procedure that wont cost more than $15.
2.) Driveline noises... probably not the transmission but rather u-joints or center driveshaft support bearing. I had similar problems: there would be a groan at different speeds. The noise varied with road speed not engine speed. It turned out to be a frozen U-joint in the driveshaft.
3.) Even though you probably dont have a transmission problem I would highly reccomend flushing the fluid. Make sure you read the FAQ before you do this. Flushing the transmission fluid is 5X easier than changing the oil on these cars and ANYBODY can do it. All you need is a funnel and a 4ft piece of tubing. Use mobil 1 or amsoil for smoother shifting, cooler temps, and better protection. Flush trans every 20k. Dont trust this simple procedure to your local quick lube place, they are bound to screw it up.
4.) No start: Check the 25A fuse that is inline with the main + battery cable in the engine compartment. It gets corroded in the winter time and will cause a no start condition. You didnt mention if the car turned over or just did nothing. If it the latter, I suggest thoroughly cleaning the battery posts and connectors. Excessive corrosion will cause a no-start here every time. ITs happened to me. If the car does turn over but doesnt start, check the fuel pump relay or the previously mentioned 25A fuse. The crank position sensor is also a likely candidtate.
As I said, be sure to flush your transmission fluid per the FAQ and give the car a tune-up (plugs, cap, rotor, wires, air filter, fuel filter) change the oil, and keep an eye on the radiator, they typically last 10-12 years.
Good Luck,
Matt
