success! thanks to all the help, i managed to solve the problem last night! reman'd amm and a new o2 sensor. "check engine" light's out and she's idling like she's brand new. what a great feeling. thanks again to everybody. brickboard rules. i'm using a different mechanic too. one who doesn't have moving used cars on his agenda.
