I am suspicious of the need for a new engine in an 89 244. Are those compression numbers real? How is the ECU? If it is the original 561, that is a major suspect. A quick test swap with someone who has an 89-93 240 or non-turbo 700 with a 951 should tell you. I got my '89 244 for $450 (thanks Randy!) and a fuel pump relay from a used car dealer that gave up on fixing it. A lousy $3 fuel pump relay.
