I have done this 2 ways:

On my '85 'test mule', I left the wires on their respective sides, i.e. I had a loop of wire on both sides. This method does NOT require extending wires, but doesn't look as good.

On the '84, I extended the PS wires over to the DS, so I have one (bigger) bundle there. I think it looks better, but the final choice is yours.
