Yup. Yours is the role model write up I meant to have Joe see.

So, you DO need to extend the original wires, eventhough you are taking them outside of the door frame?

I cannot measure the reach of the existing wires at present, because my project is up on stilts in my garage. Can't open the hatch mofe than 90 degrees (parallel with floor). Seems to be enought length to merely splice at the breaks using solder, then tape shut & wrap.
