Good advice below. Tie rods are a prime suspect and much cheaper than a rebuilt rack. You can nurse a slightly leaking rack along by fluid top-ups. But if your region has a safety inspection program, it will fail.
I replaced the rack for just that reason on my (long gone) S90. The first rack - from a frequently mentioned supplier here - was an Atlantic Automotive Engineering unit and leaked like a sieve. I returned it, got my money back and bought a Jorgen rebuild direct from them. No problem after that. www.jorgenauto.com
