Powder coating fail

Lord Volvo,

Your Grace:

Indeed! You can do several coats, with maybe the typical grey underneath and a sparkly coat of silver, or one coat grey and two coats silver.

However, you may still want to ask around, or research, how may layers of powder coat, and if using a sparkly silvery powder coat.

From your descriptions, you've been, at best, sort of cheated.

A good bead blasting, and also scouring away any residues, as aforementioned, leaving the bare Volvo carbon-steel with a slightly rough surface, should last as long as the silver color enamel.

Do you have them powder coating the exterior of the wheel, only, or the entire wheel?

If you could scrape away the silver enamel from the 240 steelies, you may find a grey primer enamel coat, too. I think.

The 1990 and 1991 240s I have came with wheel in black enamel. Sort of help hide the brake dust from the Made in India OEM Volvo brake pads. (But the Volvo OEM brake pads on RWD have always been that way, I think.)

Thank you. Hope that helps. They should do the re-work freely, I feel.

Volvo steel wheels need care, too, as alloy wheels do. I'll keep my steelies, though. The Volvo 240 steelies are much lighter and strong versus some Volvo allow wheel models.

Though I'd like to move up to 700/900 steelies, of the same offset, to enjoy some 15" wheel benefit, as you do, with your Virgo wheels.

Else, maybe worth the time to reseal the steelies yourself, as some have said they do and with success in other brickboard threads and articles.

http://catsandvolvos.com/ - Why I love the i-net again, in addition to your beloved brickboard.com. Maybe wikipedia, too. And turbobricks, once and again. And the comics.

http://catsandvolvos.com/ - The photography is so lovely, it actually brings me to tears. Cats and Volvos, Volvos and Cats, Doggies and Volvos, Volvos and Doggies, and more!

I hope some brickboard and turbobricks folks post some more images on http://catsandvolvos.com/. People, Pets, and their Volvos, on all sorts of lovely settings.

But I'll not ever have me a turbo Volvo, probably. Them Turbo Volvo folks are a tough lot!

I wish modern-era industry captains beheld the same "do the greater good ethic" as the two Volvo founders did.
