tear jerker

get out your tissues boys and girls. i just picked up an 87 245 DL wagon. it has less than 63,000 miles on it. yes 63,000 miles, and as far as i can tell they are original. the interior is pretty much brand new, and just needs a good cleaning. it has AC, and heated seats, and the lighter has had no use. the steering wheel is tight, and not loose from age. the vinyl is in good shape front to back, but no third row seat. the doors close with a thunk, and do not rattle. the doors are rust free, and the car looks like a 91 that came from southern PA. there are no parking lot dings on the body, and it straight with no accident damage it is dark blue metallic, and the front spoiler is even body color. the clear coat is good shape, and cleaned up nice with a good bath. under the hood the motor looks new, the paint on the block is very bright, without much paint loss. the plugs wires, cap and rotor, and even the electrical connection on the firewall looks new. the fan is bright without the usually build up of black you see on older cars. i got it with the original keys, these are the keys that were handed to the first owner. they hadn't been used, but i tried them and they work, but god are they stiff. i also have two other steel keys for the car, that the original owner probably had made for the car. it is a 5 speed manual car, it should run like new, but i haven't tried yet. heres the really bad part, it can never go on the road ever again. the junk yard i bought it from sold it to me as parts only. there is no title, and no matter what i try, it is parts only. i cannot with a clear conscience see taking a torch or a sawzall to this car. i might have to have an inventory reduction sale. i am a volvophile to my core, and this is a travesty. i have a 79 GT, an 86 245 DL, and a 92 245DL. this 87 that i just picked up is for my 86, but i don't think i am qualified to take on a project of this magnitude. so these great 240's might have to go on the block. so my final thought and request to all who read this is this. if you see or hear of anybody that has any 240 like this, make sure to either talk them out of getting rid of it. or if that is not a possibility, find it a good home, with someone who will make it last as long as possibly. viva le revolution, thanks.
