I've never heard anything like this said about FCP before. With 9 volvos in the family fleet, I've spent thousands with FCP and others over the years.
Sure there have been pick/ship mistakes on rare occasion - I always assumed they get in a rush trying to get things into the weekender's hands in time. That seems to be their priority, at least when I order.
Never once have they made a customer service error with me, like you describe. Quite the opposite. Always a special effort to turn any goof-up into a pleasant experience.
I read your post with sadness. Say it isn't so.
