I have to ask about this one.

I don't doubt that the preheater defrosts the intake manifold much more quickly once the engine has started. My comment was that on the intial start attempt, it would have no impact.

I wouldn't think that near starts (ie. a few sporatic cylinder cumbustions) would generate enough energy to heat up the exhaust manifold enough to impact the next attempt, either, but I can't say that I've ever touched an exhaust manifold under these conditions. Either way, the preheat is obviously providing an advantage for you, so all power to you.
