Lower A Arm Bushing (Rear of A arm) replacing. 200 1989

the rear front control arm bushing is fairly straightforward and a 2 maybe 3 (for a first time) on the 10 point degree of difficulty rating.

some here will say you do not have to remove the control to do the rear bushing. this is true. however for a first time i would remove the entire arm and replace the bushing.

1. on level ground jack up the offending side and place a jackstand in the jack point
2. remove the tire
3. unbolt the sway bar link from the arm
4. unbolt the ball joint from the control arm only......leave its connection to the strut alone
5. unbolt the bolts which affix the rear arm cap to the frame
6. unbolt the single front connection point of the arm.

remove the arm with the rear arm cap (to frame) attached
on your bench remove the cap and change the bushing.

install is the reverse with the exception you may have to jack up the hub a bit to get everything to fit nicely for re bolting as the weight with the arm detached will cause the strut/hub assembly to sag as the strut is now holding it all up.

the few times i have done this job i have never had to re align the front wheels and i do not see why you will have to either.

first time the job should take an hour
