Don't use an IPD magnetic drain plug (my opinion) S70 1998

I sell automotive oil drain plugs. When I purchased a magnetic drain plug from IPD for my S70 I was suprised that the magnet was not epoxied or staked to the plug. I called IPD and offered to supply them a drain plug with a stronger magnet that won't separate from the plug. They told me that their buyer would contact me. He never did. The reason you do not have a magnetic drain plug with OEM is because of cost. The plug with a magnet cost 10 times the cost of a plain plug. OEM will purchase magnetic drain plugs for the engine and magnetics pipe plugs for the transmission if they see warranty problem with a particular model. The most common problem is chips, burrs and shavings not cleaned from the components before assembly. Most problems involve transfer cases in 4WD models.
