Hi Jake,
I have received the following from having a short but pleasant conversation with a Volvo Factory Rep.
1) 1 Leather Steering Wheel (Aug 2000)
2) 1 Leather/Wood Steering Wheel (Aug 2001)
3) Drive side Leather seat cover (March 2002)
4) Transmission Valve body (Aug 2000)
5) And a promise to replace the “Entire” Transmission if the Valve Body replacement did not work (Aug 2000)
And all this has occurred over the past 3 years of owner ship while FORD has owned Volvo (Since Jan 2000).
I also know 2 Volvo XC owners who have gotten a very good discount (over 35% off) on the purchase of a New XC for having problems with the so-called Bevel Gear.
So I can say that Volvo still wants to keep their Customer base Happy.
This is not to say that Volvo Dealer are and can be jerks. Some Dealers are and some are not. I am sorry for those Volvo Owner who have to deal with a Dealer that is only out to get money.
In the case of Stealth Wagon, I feel that if he took his situation to a Volvo Factory Rep regardless of who did the repair and stated his case he could work out a deal that would make him happy.
