I've had a couple of Saabs, one made it to 300,000, and now the Volvo.

As I wrote in the AWD thread below, pick up the April "New Car" issue of Consumer Reports and turn to pages 74 and 75. You will see the SV70 '98-'99 on CR's "Used cars to avoid" list. You will also see the Volvo SV70 AWD on it's "Reliability Risks" list of cars whose "reliability was MUCH worse than average in our latest survey".

I doubt I'll buy another Volvo. Maybe another Saab. Maybe an Audi. Others I'd consider are the BMW X5 3.0 5-speed, and the 525i wagon 5-speed. Paradoxically, I would predict that the Volvo will hold it's value better than the Saab. If I could stand driving an automatic, I'd also consider the Mercedes E320 wagon.
