Belt should NOT squeal at full lock on either side or at any other time.

You may hear a squeal, but it should not be the belt.

Some pumps have a bypass valve for high-pressure conditions (I do not know if the Volvo pump has one) and that noise would be the bypass valve relieving.

Or, if the pump does not have a bypass valve, the PUMP will make a squeal, but that noise is completely normal.

What is NOT normal is if the belt is making the noise.
