Cars equipped with a manual transmission represent a very small percentage of new Volvo purchases. According to a dealer I spoke to, less than 3%. There is very little left in the Volvo lineup that is offered with a manual transmission - base and T5 variants of s60 and v70 come to mind.
And with steady increase in cell phone use, demand for manual transmissions continues to decline. As I understand the situation, all of this conspires to make it uneconomical to present lower volume models for certification.
