Tie Wrap - OEM Part # 700 1989

I'm looking for the Volvo Part Number for the tie wraps used to secure the wiring harness to the firewall under the hood. They are black, about 7mm wide and perhaps 150mm+ in length. The uniqueness compared to standard hardware variety tie wraps -- is that these have a small lever that can be depressed to release the tie wrap and then it can be retightened again. There is also a slot that allows the tie wrap to slide and secure on the small round pins on the fire wall. They're actually quite nice and very usable.

The Volvo dealer has not been able to id the part number for these.

Anyone with an '89 760 or similar replace any of these tie wraps and have the OEM part number?

Thanks!

I wish I had a part # for you, but I got mine from NAPA. They have a large selection of the critters. The hard part is finding someone behind the counter who's willing to compare measurements of your old broken one to their new ones. In my case it was no big deal, our local NAPA had one young lady who was always happy to help with a search and find mission. Sadly, they're now out of business, but she's gone to another parts store. I'm confident she'd do the same again if I needed.

Don't hold me to this, but I believe the ones she got for me were actually listed for a Ford product. They mount, function and look just like the originals.

Good luck,
Frank

You just need to shop a little harder. Releasable/reusable tie wraps are an industry standard. Try an electronics supply.

Chances are you could get a bag of 50 generic ties for the price of one at the Volvo dealer :)

... and I'll add that removing the wire bundles isn't such a regular occurance that a reusable wrap is that important IMHO. The single-use ones are cheap - cut 'em if you need to and tie back another one. With the heat under the hood, the reusables degrade anyways.

-- Kane ... who notes that prolly 1/4 original tie wraps break if you put any force to 'em, with at least another 1/4 breaking when you try to undo the clip.

You guys are both missing the point that he wants tie wraps that go on the original mounting studs to keep the harness from flopping around.

They also sell adhesive backed pads that can be used with the cable ties. You can secure them wherever one likes.
