oil light ON 120-130

What a drag... I'm driving down the freeway, when the oil lamp starts flickering. Gauge says I'm getting around 100 PSI, but I immediately pull over and stop the car anyways. Look on dipstick, and level is waaay down, barely registering on dipstick. %@#&$!!

I walk to the gas station, get a couple quarts of 20W50, pour in, all is well. No more warning light.

Run a few errands, then the oil light starts flickering again. Go to gas station, and add another quart without checking dipstick level. As I'm driving up hill to my apartment, I notice massive amounts of smoke pouring out of tailpipe.

Dummy light not flickering anymore however. Make it home, check dipstick, and discover that the oil level is WAAAAY too high, seems like its between a third and halfway up the dipstick. Drained the oil, no metal particles or anything like that in oil.

Now I'm majorly freaking out. Could the excess oil have anything to do with the smoke pouring out of the tailpipe? Even though the oil pressure gauge is reading 100 psi at highway speed, could the pump be failing or WHAT??? Why would that dummy light be flickering? Only thing I've done recently to car is adjust valves, and I know I did that correctly. Car has been running amazingly well, up to today.
