It's posible that the pressure reliefe piston in the oil pump has jammed and the engine has too much oil pressure. That happened in my PV's engine a while back before the rebuild. On a cold day the pressure would shoot up way past 100psi on a cold start up and break the gauge, it would read erratically and way high after one overpressurization. Luckily, it never popped any oil filters.
