SAFETY: Double bolt all chain attachments to the engine. NEVER get between the engine and where it might fall or tilt, this includes reaching along side the engine to get some forgotten connection. If necessary, lower the engine and block inplace before reaching in.
Also, more than once I've had to undo the shifter handle that hung up as the engine was coming out.
Also be sure to put your radiator someplace very safe and out of the way.
Antifreeze will spill out as you tilt the engine back. Have mopup ready.
Put alignment marks on before you remove the hood. Remove the hood.
Grab the tailshaft when it's free and lift over the fender.
Don't raise the engine so high that the tailshaft can swing into the windshield.
Have someone check on you.
