Remote Trunk Opener 200 1982

Hey Bruce -

The pre-1986 flat-truck sedans had a different latch mechanism. Trunk was either locked or up. The change in 1986 was IMHO - a very good one.

That newer style uses the push-pull solenoid, and is wire just like the door lock actuators. Reversing polarity reverses solenoid direction.

Maybe that system would work on the pre-1986 latch mechanism anyway. I never tried that. I just found a wrecked 244 GL with the lock opening motor and installed it.

The 1982 242/244 may indeed not have the right holes. Volvo later began making things all the same, DL or GL, thus making any dealer-installed options easier.
What year did all the 240s get the red/white tach signal wire, whether the car came with or without a tach?

Regards,

Bob
