Fuel sending unit and power window relay. 200 1989

FUEL SENDING UNIT: Having looked through the archives on the subject I think Bricksters would tell me that it's not worth getting a fuel sending unit at the junkyard due to the units in general having a limited life span. Right? Are they at all repairable (gas guage not working) and if I do buy a new one how much should I expect to spend?

POWER WINDOW RELAY: How do I trouble-shoot one having gone bad? Can I connect fuse #4 to fuse #10, and bypass the relay? What is the color and location of the PW relay? The Haynes Manual says it's behind the dash just below the vents. I took the dash half apart (memories of the blower motor job!) but I couldn't see any relays with my limited view.
Thanks.
