fluid recamdations 200

I just bought a 88 244, and am going to do fluids tommorrow, I want to go synthetic for rear end, tranny (5spd, not 4spd with od) and engine oil. I want to go with heavier engine oil because of its age, miles, and some smoking.
so what do you guys recomend? I see in the owners manual that it calls for atf type f in the tranny.... this is strange to me, but what do you think?
so anyway.... whats good to use for all three areas?
also.... off my subject, If you see the small clock and tach package for sale on e-bay, check your pull n save first! I almost bid $35 for the package and went to junk yard today and found several tachs available and a small clock with all the wiring.... price? $5.00! I also found the opional 3 storage area guages with harness and bezel. Price? yet another $5.00.
I also got the guages from a rallye cluster, and would like to use the fuel guage and temp guage and switch out the oil pressure and voltage guage from the 3 cluster I got...so I have all rallye guages... I kind of wanted to leave the big clock in dash and replace the origional temp and fuel guages with the tach.... not possible.... (or easy at any rate...no cutouts for the tach on right side....has anybody done this?)
so is it possible to use the rallye guages? are the voltages the same? can I splice the harness to make these work? they look like better guages... or if not I can sell em or send em to someone...
sorry for rambling but I am excited bout my own volvo and looking forward to tweaking it....
