Because you had a bad gear, I strongly suspect the gear is not seated properly. The other things that go wrong are a motor that breaks free of the board (it is lightly glued there to begin with) and the dark gray rectangular chip marked FM 2115 or UFA 2115 or something. That one might have to be replaced if the gear does not do it. Of course you could be right that the lever has disengaged the drive gear from the numbers (the reset function) so set that back to engage. Isn't there a spring on it somewhere?
