Moy odometer failed to work and upon inspection I found the infamous small gear had lost several teeth. Ireplaced the gear and put the thing back together but it still did not work. I took it bac apart and everything seemed to be installed correctly. On the back of the speedo there is a black plastic lever that semms to hav two positions, up and down and itraises and lowers a worm gear for the top row of odometer numbers. Sould this be in the up or down position? what does it do? could it be the cause of my problem or is the motor dead? I was told not to test the motor with 12 volts or it will blow. Any idead what to do next? Itis the speedo head from a sedan. If i replace it with a speedo from a 240 wagon what will the speedo error be? Anybody Know?
